Discover Indian&nepal Restaurant Gorkha Palace

If you're in the mood for authentic Indian and Nepalese cuisine in Yokosuka, you have to check out Indian&nepal Restaurant Gorkha Palace. Nestled in the heart of Chome-21 Odakicho, Yokosuka, Kanagawa, this cozy spot has become a local favorite for food lovers craving the rich, aromatic flavors of the Indian subcontinent.

The moment you walk through the door, you’re welcomed by the warm, inviting atmosphere. The friendly staff at Gorkha Palace are always ready with a smile, eager to help guide you through their extensive menu, which features an impressive array of traditional dishes. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries, tender tandoori meats, or flavorful vegetarian options, there’s something here to satisfy every palate.

One standout dish that you absolutely must try is the Chicken Tikka Masala. It’s a customer favorite for a reason. The chicken is perfectly cooked, tender, and soaked in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce that’s just the right balance of rich and tangy. The dish comes served with a side of fluffy naan bread, perfect for sopping up every last bit of sauce. For those looking for something a bit milder, the Butter Chicken is another great option, offering a deliciously smooth and slightly sweet sauce that pairs wonderfully with the tender, marinated chicken.

Of course, no visit to an Indian restaurant is complete without some freshly baked naan. At Gorkha Palace, they bake their naan to order, ensuring it’s served hot and perfectly chewy. The garlic naan is particularly tasty, with just the right amount of garlic and butter to complement any dish.

For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the Vindaloo is a must-try. This fiery curry is packed with bold flavors and has just the right amount of spice to keep you coming back for more. And for vegetarians, the Paneer Tikka is a fantastic choice. The paneer, a type of Indian cheese, is marinated and grilled to perfection, offering a smoky flavor that pairs wonderfully with the mild spiciness of the marinade.

The menu also includes a variety of Nepalese dishes, reflecting the restaurant's roots. The Momo, a type of Nepalese dumpling, is another dish that deserves a mention. Whether you get them steamed or fried, these little pockets of goodness are filled with a savory mix of meat or vegetables, and they come served with a tangy dipping sauce that perfectly complements the delicate flavor of the dumplings.

When it comes to drinks, Gorkha Palace offers a range of options to pair with your meal. The mango lassi, a refreshing yogurt-based drink, is always a favorite, especially when paired with spicy dishes. If you prefer something a little stronger, they also serve a selection of beers and traditional Indian and Nepalese spirits that pair perfectly with the meal.

One of the things that sets Indian&nepal Restaurant Gorkha Palace apart from other places in the area is the consistent quality of the food and the attention to detail in the cooking. The chefs here take great pride in using fresh, high-quality ingredients to create authentic dishes that transport you straight to the heart of India and Nepal. Each dish is carefully crafted to ensure a balance of flavors, and the spices are used thoughtfully to enhance, not overwhelm, the dish.

The restaurant itself is comfortable and well-decorated, with an aesthetic that reflects both Indian and Nepalese cultures. It’s a place that feels homey but also has that special touch that makes it perfect for a casual night out or even a celebration. The service is attentive and quick, making it a great spot for both a quick lunch and a leisurely dinner.

If you’re in Yokosuka and craving something flavorful, authentic, and satisfying, Indian&nepal Restaurant Gorkha Palace is definitely worth a visit. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, the food never disappoints, and the welcoming vibe makes it a place you'll want to come back to again and again.

  • I had a really great experience in this restaurant . While there are some places in Japan that won’t serve Americans this place was extremely friendly. The food was full of seasoning. I had cheese naan that was full of cheese and flavor and also honey naan that was excellent and not too sweet. My rice came in the shape of a little heart and that made me smile. My butter chicken was delicious. There was so many delicious items to speak of. I ate there twice in two weeks. I do recommend this spot. They have an amazing liquor collection as well.

  • This is the same owner, menu, and level of service as Nirvana, so the review is gonna be near exactly the same. Was not a fan of Indian food, this place changed my mind. AMAZING food. Very cheap. I took my wife and mother-in-law, and paid ¥7000 for 3 dinner sets. (Two 2 Curry sets, and 1 Ladies Set). I have been all over Asia, and the USA, and this is the best Indian Restaurant I have ever been to. Recommend it to anyone in the area. The only real difference between Nirvana and Ghorka is the entrance and lighting. Ghorka is a bit brighter and above ground.

  • Get yourself a point card and get a stamp for every visit. Completing 15 stamps gives you a ¥1,000 coupon that can be used on your next visit! You can get the STAMP CARD at their cashier/payment counter. Also, PAY IN CASH during dinner time starting at 16:00 (4pm) because they offer 10% off for cash payment. — see the bottom part of the stamp card for that information! Just tell the cashier that you’d be paying in cash and remind them to give you the 10% discount! Happy eating

  • When I went, I was surprised to be the only visitor! I got the 3 Curry Set and was very pleased with both the portion size and quality. I chose the regular spice level, but as someone with limited spice tolerence it was not hot at all, and I'll go spicier next time I visit. The seafood curry was my favorite, and I recommend going with the cheese naan. Service was fast and cordial; you pay at a register at the entrance when you are ready to leave.

  • My husband wanted to stop by, and we are glad we did! The food and atmosphere was great and relaxing. The garlic cheese Naan made was so delicious, and the butter chicken was well seasoned. I ordered some samosas and was reminded of my childhood. Amazing experience and will be stopping by again before my stay is up!

  • No wait at 1600 on Sunday. Service was very responsive. Food came out hot. The food was good, but needed some more flavor. I got a level 3 spice and it felt like a 0.
